Treasuring Time

For the treasuring time assignment I wanted to make something that would be used throughout a whole year. With memories building through time and stacking up in our heads. I wanted something that would represent this concept. I ended up using a folding method that would represent a kind of 3d diary. Everyday the user would write on the paper (i picked paper with 120 gsm which is in between paper and cardboard as it would be more stronger than normal paper but not as hard as card) a short message or memory and then use follow instructions to fold then build upon it any way you like through a slotting method. As the year draws closer the 3d diary will become bigger and at the end of the year you will have a collection of memories in a form of 3d sculpture. When it is finished you can decide to take it apart review and look back on your year or keep it for display as it can represent a particular year and then you can start on a new one for the next year. The final model with writing shown on outside

This product meets all the requirements of the brief. It looks cool, and its good for the environmant as its made of paper. It is an interesting way of making a diary. Itll probably be difficult to look at pieces at the bottom though, unless you take a chunk of it out, so thats one problem and people who cant fold will have trouble making it and may throw the product away in frustration.

Hi Vuong, Good Job.
I think you have achieved all the requirements of the brief well. Your folding work comes out look really interesting as it possessing the look of sculpture.
However, one thing I’m concerned that your 3D folding diary won’t be able to see the whole messages from the outside when the user wants to remind some special past memories.

I think this is a really good answer to the brief. it is very interactive and it looks like a very nice sculpture. it looks like you've put a lot of thought into its form and the process of shaping it over the year. i like the fact that after the year is finished you can take it apart and read your comments which would remind you of all the important emotions you've felt over the last year. i think an improvement could eb to put some more colour into it so that it could stand out or have different colours resembling different emotions.
nice work
